Officials identified fake websites and political ads during Moldova’s election and false videos about Zelenskyy aimed at weakening support for Ukraine.
The UK imposed sanctions on Russian media and ideological outlets to counter information warfare from hostile foreign states.
Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper announced sanctions on Telegram channel Rybar, the Foundation for the Support and Protection of Compatriots Abroad, and the Centre for Geopolitical Expertise.
She added sanctions on two China-based firms for widespread cyberattacks against the UK and allied nations.
Cooper Highlights Rising Hybrid Threats
Cooper told the Foreign Office that Britain and its allies face hybrid threats targeting infrastructure, national interests, and democratic processes.
She called these attacks Russian information warfare and stressed that the UK actively defends itself.
She said hostile actors combine sabotage with AI-generated disinformation campaigns designed to weaken Western support for Ukraine’s resistance.
Officials again highlighted Moldova’s election interference and fake Zelenskyy videos as clear examples of coordinated manipulation.
International Cooperation Remains Critical
Cooper marked the 100th anniversary of the Locarno Treaties, which strengthened peace across Europe after World War I.
She warned that US President Donald Trump’s disruptions challenge NATO alliances and create uncertainty about American commitments.
Cooper met US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and confirmed strong, ongoing US support for NATO and European security.
