The global humanoid robot industry recorded rapid growth during the first half of 2026, with shipments reaching nearly 25,000 units as manufacturers expanded production and prices continued to decline.

New industry data shows that worldwide humanoid robot deliveries increased more than fourfold compared with the same period last year. Revenue also climbed sharply, exceeding $740 million during the first six months of the year.

The strong growth highlights increasing investment in robotics and artificial intelligence as companies race to develop machines capable of performing tasks in factories, stores, warehouses, public venues, and eventually homes.

One of the most significant trends is the falling cost of humanoid robots. Based on shipment and revenue figures, the average selling price dropped to about $29,600 per unit during the first half of 2026. A year earlier, the average price was estimated at around $37,000.

Analysts say the decline reflects growing production volumes and improvements in manufacturing efficiency as the industry moves from early development toward broader commercialization.

Chinese companies continue to dominate the sector. Industry estimates indicate that firms based in China produced more than 95% of all humanoid robots shipped globally during the first half of the year.

China also remained the largest market for deployments, accounting for nearly four-fifths of worldwide purchases. Demand was supported by research programs, educational institutions, technology centers, and government-backed robotics initiatives.

Shanghai-based Agibot emerged as the industry’s largest supplier. The company shipped approximately 8,600 humanoid robots during the first six months of 2026, giving it a leading share of the global market.

Unitree ranked second with around 5,000 shipments. Several other Chinese manufacturers followed, including Booster Robotics, UBTech, Leju Robot, Galbot, Astribot, Fourier Intelligence, and Galaxea AI.

Among the top suppliers, only one major American company appeared in industry rankings. Figure AI was listed within the top ten but was estimated to have shipped only a limited number of units during the period.

The rankings underscore China’s current leadership in humanoid robot manufacturing. However, industry observers note that several American and European companies remain focused on refining products before large-scale commercial deployment.

Companies such as Apptronik, Agility Robotics, Boston Dynamics, 1X, Humanoid AI, and others continue developing systems designed for industrial and commercial use.

Growth rates among leading manufacturers were particularly striking. Some companies recorded shipment increases exceeding 1,000% compared with a year earlier. Agibot’s deliveries expanded roughly tenfold, while several smaller competitors also achieved rapid gains as production accelerated.

Despite the surge in shipments, most humanoid robots are not yet performing widespread commercial work. Research institutions, educational programs, exhibitions, demonstrations, and government-operated facilities remain the largest users of the technology.

Industry data suggests that these categories accounted for nearly 70% of all deployments during the first half of 2026. While that share remains high, it represents a decline from the previous year, indicating gradual movement toward practical commercial applications.

Manufacturing, logistics, retail, tourism, and customer service are becoming increasingly important markets. Companies are beginning to place robots in environments where they interact with customers, assist workers, and perform repetitive operational tasks.

Agibot has been among the most active firms pursuing real-world deployments. The company recently announced that its cumulative production surpassed 20,000 robots.

Its machines are now being used in retail stores, entertainment venues, visitor centers, and industrial facilities. Some robots assist customers by answering questions and providing information, while others support production processes in manufacturing environments.

Industry leaders increasingly describe 2026 as a transition year in which humanoid robots move from demonstrations and testing toward practical deployment.

Analysts believe the next major challenge will be proving that robots can deliver measurable productivity improvements over extended periods in real operating environments.

Looking ahead, market forecasts remain highly optimistic. Some industry projections now suggest global humanoid robot shipments could exceed 750,000 units annually by 2030.

Achieving that target would require sustained growth over the next several years, but supporters of the technology argue that advances in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and manufacturing could make such expansion possible.

The rapid increase in humanoid robot shipments during 2026 suggests the industry is entering a new phase of development. As costs fall and deployments expand, manufacturers will be under growing pressure to demonstrate that humanoid robots can provide real economic value beyond research labs and technology showcases.
