Patrick Clancy has shared new details about the grief he has faced since losing his three children, speaking openly about loss, healing and the effort to move forward after one of the most painful events of his life.
The father said there was a period when he struggled to see a future for himself. The deaths of his children left him overwhelmed with sadness and uncertainty. He recalled a time when he believed he might never fully recover from the emotional pain.
Today, however, Patrick says he has found reasons to keep moving forward while continuing to honor the memory of his children, Cora, Dawson and Callan.
The tragedy followed a difficult period for his former wife, Lindsay Clancy, after the birth of their youngest child in 2022. Patrick said she began experiencing serious mental health challenges in the months after giving birth.
According to Patrick, Lindsay suffered from severe sleep deprivation, depression and troubling thoughts. She sought medical help several times and received treatment from healthcare professionals. She also participated in mental health programs designed to address postpartum depression.
Patrick said he did everything he could to support his wife during that period. At the same time, he admitted that he often felt unsure about how to respond to such a complex illness.
He said mental illness can be difficult to understand because symptoms are not always visible. Looking back, he believes the situation became much more serious than anyone realized at the time.
In January 2023, the family suffered a devastating loss. Patrick returned home one evening and discovered that his children had been harmed. His daughter Cora and son Dawson died at the scene. His youngest son, Callan, was rushed to a hospital for emergency treatment.
Patrick said he refused to give up hope while Callan remained alive. He remembered wishing for the opportunity to raise at least one of his children and share memories of their brother and sister.
For several days, Callan continued to fight for his life. Patrick spent that time at his son’s side. He recalled holding him, speaking to him and remaining close until his final moments.
The experience left a lasting impact on him. Yet even in the middle of overwhelming grief, Patrick made a decision that drew national attention.
Soon after the tragedy, he publicly forgave Lindsay. He explained that many public descriptions of her focused on anger and blame. While he acknowledged the terrible nature of what happened, he believes severe mental illness played a significant role in the events.
Patrick said forgiveness was not something he was asked to give. Instead, it was a personal choice that reflected his own beliefs and understanding of the situation.
In the years that followed, he continued to face challenges linked to both grief and public attention. As legal proceedings moved forward, the case became widely discussed across the country.
The criminal trial involving Lindsay Clancy generated debate about postpartum mental health, medical treatment and legal responsibility. The case also led to intense discussion on social media platforms.
Patrick said he became the subject of false accusations and online speculation. He described the experience as painful and frustrating, especially while still grieving the loss of his children.
During the trial, Patrick testified about the events surrounding the tragedy. He later revealed that the process was emotionally overwhelming. At one point, he suffered a severe panic attack and was taken away in an ambulance.
Despite the medical emergency, he returned to court and completed his testimony. He said it was important for him to finish what he had started.

Today, Patrick says support from mental health experts, friends and fellow survivors has helped him rebuild his life. Earlier this year, he married Rachel Danis after the pair met in New York City.
The couple are now preparing to grow their family. Patrick said he looks forward to telling future children about Cora, Dawson and Callan. He believes their memory will always remain an important part of his life and hopes future generations will know how deeply they were loved.
