Police in Tucson, Arizona, are investigating whether a deadly shooting outside a popular LGBTQ venue was motivated by hate, following an incident that left two victims dead and the suspected gunman deceased.
The shooting occurred shortly after midnight on Monday in the parking lot of Venture-N, a bar known as a gathering place for Tucson’s LGBTQ community. Authorities said 42-year-old Vincent Anthony Siqueiros and 33-year-old Cameron Davis Capara were fatally shot at the scene.
The suspected shooter, 44-year-old Ousman Ceesay, was also found with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital, where he later died. Investigators have not yet disclosed the exact circumstances surrounding his injury and are awaiting further information from the medical examiner.
According to Tucson police, preliminary findings indicate that the suspect approached the victims in the parking lot before the shooting took place. During the investigation, officers recovered a note that reportedly contained the names of several businesses linked to the LGBTQIA+ community.

She explained that the shooting revived painful memories for some community members who experienced prejudice and violence earlier in life. According to O’Donoghue, events like this can create fear that extends well beyond those directly involved.
Some residents also recalled other high-profile attacks against LGBTQ spaces in different parts of the United States. Community advocates said those memories have added to the sense of grief and concern following the Tucson shooting.
Tucson Mayor Regina Romero described the incident as a devastating attack on the local LGBTQ community. She said the violence caused deep pain and highlighted the need to continue opposing hatred in all forms.
