The jury of the 19th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition, headed by Garrick Ohlsson, selected 11 pianists for the last stage of the event. Poland’s Piotr Alexewicz remains his country’s sole representative among the finalists.
The announcement confirmed the final line-up for one of the world’s most respected piano contests, held in Warsaw. Since its debut in 1927, the competition has honored the timeless works of Fryderyk Chopin, attracting elite performers from across the globe.
International Finalists Prepare for the Grand Performance
Joining Alexewicz in the finals are Kevin Chen (Canada), David Khrikuli (Georgia), Shiori Kuwahara (Japan), Tianyou Li (China), Eric Lu (United States), Tianyao Lyu (China), Vincent Ong (Malaysia), Miyu Shindo (Japan), Zitong Wang (China), and William Yang (United States).
Each pianist will perform Chopin’s Polonaise-Fantaisie, Op. 61, followed by either Piano Concerto in E minor, Op. 11, or Piano Concerto in F minor, Op. 21. The National Philharmonic Orchestra, led by Andrzej Boreyka, will accompany all performances.
The final auditions will take place from October 18 to 20, with each session beginning at 6 p.m.
Grand Prize and Glory Await the Next Master of Chopin
The overall winner will receive a €60,000 cash award and a gold medal, solidifying their place among the world’s leading pianists.
Beyond the prize, the title represents a gateway to international recognition and a lifelong connection to Chopin’s legacy.
