The Musk X Child Probe has intensified after French prosecutors summoned tech billionaire Elon Musk over serious allegations linked to his social media platform X (formerly Twitter). The case involves claims of illegal content, including child sexual abuse material and AI-generated deepfakes.

French authorities said Musk and former X CEO Linda Yaccarino were asked to attend voluntary interviews in Paris. Investigators are also calling other employees as witnesses. The summons follows a wider cybercrime investigation that began after a search of X’s French offices earlier this year.

Prosecutors said the interviews are meant to allow company leaders to explain their position. They also want to know what steps the platform has taken to follow French law. Authorities stressed that the process is still in an early and cooperative stage.

The investigation began after concerns were raised about how X handles harmful content. A French lawmaker reported that the platform’s systems may have contributed to harmful or biased outputs. The case later expanded due to issues linked to X’s AI tool, Grok.

Grok, developed by Musk’s AI company, has faced global criticism. It allegedly generated sexually explicit deepfake images and misleading posts. Some of these posts reportedly included false claims about historical events, including Holocaust denial.

One widely shared incident involved Grok incorrectly describing gas chambers at Auschwitz as being used for disinfection. The post sparked strong backlash before the system later corrected itself and acknowledged the error.

French authorities are now examining several serious allegations. These include the spread of child sexual abuse material, distribution of explicit deepfakes, denial of crimes against humanity, and manipulation of automated systems as part of a coordinated effort.

The probe also looks into whether the platform’s actions could be linked to financial manipulation. Prosecutors suggested that viral controversies involving Grok may have been used to influence company value. They even raised concerns about possible effects on future market activity involving Musk’s business ventures.

The case has now drawn international attention. French prosecutors informed US authorities, including the Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission, about their findings. They suggested possible criminal implications tied to the platform’s activity and timing of corporate developments.

However, tensions have grown between France and the United States over the investigation. US officials reportedly questioned the legal basis of the probe. They argued that it could interfere with free speech protections under the US Constitution.

According to reports, US authorities also warned that assisting the French investigation could be seen as political interference in a private American company. This has added a diplomatic layer to the legal dispute.

The Paris prosecutor’s office has not confirmed whether Musk will appear in person. It also did not say whether he could face penalties if he refuses to attend.

The investigation comes at a sensitive time for Musk’s business empire. X has faced declining advertising revenue and increased scrutiny over content moderation. At the same time, Musk’s AI ventures are expanding globally.

Legal experts say the case could set an important precedent. It raises questions about how far national governments can regulate global tech platforms. It also highlights growing concerns about AI-generated content and online safety.

The role of AI systems like Grok is now under close examination. Critics argue that such tools can spread harmful or false content at scale if not properly controlled. Supporters say the technology is still developing and requires careful regulation, not restrictions that limit innovation.

For now, French investigators continue gathering evidence. More witnesses are expected to be questioned in the coming days.

The Musk X Child Probe is likely to remain a major international legal story. It sits at the intersection of technology, law, and global politics, with major implications for how social media platforms operate in the future.
